All landscapes painted outdoors in plein air
All still lifes are oil on canvas, painted from observation.
Abstract paintings and illustrations, various media
All portraits painted from life in a single sitting (unless noted).
Want your portrait painted? I don’t do commissions, but I’m always looking for models. Sitting for a portrait is a unique and pleasurable experience. You’ll need to come to my studio in Jamaica Plain for 2-4 hours (including breaks). After the painting dries, you can come back and pick it up if you are happy with it (as long as I don’t need it for a show). I usually recommend that you give your portrait to a parent or family member if you don’t want to hang it on your wall :)
The Green Girls are creatures from the Planet Navel. They first landed on Earth during the summer of 2019 and spawned in the backyard of 14 Seaverns Street, Jamaica Plain. As they were used to being in a gelatinous state, it was quite something to adjust to having bodies. In some ways, the Green Girls are similar to humans (although the have poor eyesight and no facial features to speak of). Their mission: to learn how to be human beings.
From the beginning, the Green Girls struggled to understand human customs and culture. First, they were invited to a dinner but did not understand how to prepare the food. Then came the question of a vocation: it seemed as though the humans were always running around from place to place and working various “jobs.” They applied at several local shops and restaurants, but for some reason were not hired. In the end, the Green Girls decided to go with artist as their chosen profession.
They went to a gallery but did not understand the art. They purchased a car, but were unable to drive it due to failing their driver’s education course repeatedly. No matter how hard they try to fit in with their human counterparts, it seems as if they are doomed to fail.
Covid was a particularly difficult time for the Green Girls. Since there was little opportunity for them to interact with humans during that time, they became less and less social. They grew lonely and depressed, did not leave the house much, and even stopped posting on social media.
After the worst of the pandemic subsided, the Green Girls reunited in the name of Art, often attempting simple domestic tasks and documenting themselves in the act. These performances seemed to confuse the humans, further estranging them.
Since landing on Earth, the Green Girls have observed that many adult humans have forgotten how to be curious and experiment, some losing their ability to play altogether.
The Green Girls have taken it upon themselves to lead by example, bravely trying new things despite what others may think. What some humans dismiss as tomfoolery is, according to the Green Girls, a creative outlet for like-minded individuals to laugh together, to play and experiment, and to explore who they are and who they want to be.
